Total daytime snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible. Allow a few extra minutes for your morning commute. There are questions surrounding whether this system transfers enough energy to a developing coastal system much later Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. With temps dropping into the 20s tonight, watch for a few slick spots to develop on area roads.

The lack of early snow accumulation had many doubting that a major winter storm was underway - if social media is any indication. Winds could gust as high as 37 miles per hour. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Scattered showers are expected for the first part of the day with the potential for snow and sleet to mix in north of Salisbury.

Highs on Thursday will only reach the middle 30s, but gusty winds will make it feel much colder. Rain showers turn to snow showers through the night, and potentially a light snow by daybreak. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, low around 14. Friday will see a mix of sun and clouds with highs back in the low 60s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high near 29.

Friday: Partly sunny with a high near 45 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 10% chance for flurries and a high near 39 degrees.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48. The rain chances will continue for the rest of the weekend and the wind will pick up on Sunday with a passing system.
