Lamar Jackson: I'm a quarterback, plain and simple

While his numbers are akin to a created player in Madden, Jackson vows to take his game to another level upon entering the NFL.

Jackson is a threat to the system because he is doing this his way. When asked about the notion he should switch positions, Jackson shut down that as quickly as he torched defenders with his flick of a wrist deep passes or jukes in the open field. That's an absurd idea for an electrifying QB talent who's 14 months removed from winning the Heisman Trophy as an electrifying QB talent.

Asked about the report Friday morning, Jackson said, "That's insane".

"Whoever likes me at quarterback, that's where I'm going", Jackson said. Adding, "you know, that's strictly my position". Polian suggested Jackson should make the switch sooner than did Terrelle Pryor, the ex-Ohio State QB who switched to wide receiver at age 26. "I thought I did a good job at quarterback!" However, Jackson rather quickly denied that report and any buzz about a position change.

"That's basically another position!" The future will be bright for Jackson regardless where he ends up. "You're just trying to reword the question".

Jackson said any Wildcat packages also fall outside of acceptable role, joking that "this is not the Dolphins with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams". If he can be the same way with teams at the combine, there will be teams that are intrigued by him.

"Well, you know, I know coming in as a rookie agents don't really negotiate anything", he said. "I want to bring him in". "He's going to be taking a big cut of my pay check anyways".

"I feel the film speaks for itself with [running], showing off my speed and showing I can make people miss", Jackson said".

But wouldn't he need someone to manage his interviews and workouts?

Jackson has put a line in the sand at this year's combine - refusing to do any agility drills and focusing on exclusively doing the quarterback throwing drills.

Had teams wondered why he didn't have an agent? So you know when he strolled to the podium inside the Indianapolis Convention Center for his NFL Combine press conference on Friday, his answers weren't coached or scripted.

It's a move that former National Football League quarterback, Brady Quinn, said is not that big of a deal.

My thoughts are simple on him.

The theme of Jackson's week is that he's confident in himself. He doesn't need a 40-yard dash to prove it. He'll do field work with the receivers on hand, "just strictly throwing". "I have a lot of learning to do - I'm just ready". They've got the right pieces. And that's why Jackson is focused exclusively on throwing well Saturday morning inside Lucas Oil Stadium: to prove his doubters wrong. Another reporter asked Jackson which professional QBs he was similar to.

Lamar Jackson met the media at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Friday afternoon.

"I've faced adversity throughout my whole life", he said. I love the game with a passion. I can lead my team. You know I love DeVante Parker and those guys out there - Kenyan Drake, [Kenny] Stills. I'm not going to be at wide receiver at all tomorrow. "It may look like it, but I'm not".
