Directed by Ryan Coogler, "Black Panther" features an nearly entirely black cast led by Chadwick Boseman as the first non-white superhero to get his own standalone movie in the franchise.

Interestingly, the film hasn't opened in China yet.

"However, Black Panther and The Force Awakens are both films to drop by $94 million between weekends, effectively avoiding the categorization using the industry analysts' term, "$100-million-loser's club". The other three films in that group are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and The Avengers.

Imax, which is playing "Black Panther" in more than 60 countries, said people are paying to see the film a few times, a quality that the biggest of the big movies share. The image, posted to Park's Twitter account, is reminiscent of a classic Black Panther look, with a long flowing cape, and a high, Doctor Strange-esque collar to go along with it.

"Game Night" opened in second place with $16.6 million.

Black Panther has crossed 700 million dollars at the worldwide box office.

Black Panther continues to play to an ethnically diverse audience. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king - and as Black Panther - gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the film stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, and Kyle Chandler.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ($5.7 million), The 15:17 to Paris ($3.6 million), The Greatest Showman ($3.4 million) and Early Man ($1.7 million) round out the top ten. It follows a group of friends whose game night turns into a murder mystery.

"Peter Rabbit" was third, with $12.5 million in its third weekend in release.

Among holdovers, Universal's Fifty Shades Freed rounded out the top five domestically with $7 million as it whipped past the $300 million mark globally, including $89.6 million in North America and $230.8 million internationally for a $320.4 million cume.
