Jano Cabrera, McDonald's senior VP for corporate relations, believes that McDonald's was able to make about 4,000 cups for the promotion, which would give around 200 restaurants about 20 packets of Szechuan sauce apiece.

On Wednesday, McDonald's officially confirmed the return of its much ballyhooed condiment, which will be available starting on February 26 at all USA restaurants - but only for patrons who make a "qualifying purchase". Last fall, McDonald's acknowledged their supply grossly underestimated the demand after a joke in an episode of the cartoon Rick & Morty made the sauce go viral.

"We did not anticipate the overnight crowds, the cross-state travel and the unbelievable curiosity, passion and energy fans showed", McDonald's said.

Many fans were left disappointed on October 7 after the long-awaited return of the savory sauce was so restricted that there simply wasn't enough to go around.

McDonald's knows how dark things can get when locations don't have enough sauce to meet customers' demand - specifically, the demands of "Rick and Morty" fans.

The fast food restaurant said Thursday that it will ship 20 million packets of Szechuan sauce to all of its restaurants in the U.S. "That was fake. I'm driven by finding that McNugget sauce!" Originally released in 1998 to promote the Disney movie Mulan, a 17-year-old packet of Szechuan sauce sold for $99,000 on eBay last April. The condiment with a cult-like following will be available at all McDonald's locations in the US while supplies last.

Given that it's a branded podcast by McDonald's, it tried to put McDonald's in the best light and argued that it had the best intentions when it chose to start fulfilling the call for Szechuan sauce. Lunchtime typically means 10:30 a.m., when the restaurant kitchens start shifting over to the midday menu.
