As De Bruyne put on another clinic against Leicester, assisting Raheem Sterling and then Sergio Aguero - twice - injured defender Benjamin Mendy was enjoying the show.

At the Etihad Stadium, Aguero and the brilliant Kevin De Bruyne, who contributed three assists, were in inspired form as City blew away Leicester City in the second half to seal a 5-1 result - their 23rd league victory from 27 games.

Argentine striker Aguero netted all his goals in a devastating second-half showing - twice finishing from Kevin de Bruyne's flawless passes, punishing a Kasper Schmeichel error by chipping into the net and curling in a sublime fourth. "It is important to move together with good solidarity and understanding together".

Aguero is the fourth player - after Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Harry Kane - to score 20-plus goals in four consecutive Premier League campaigns.

The best first-half chance to make it two came when the midfielder found Sterling with a precise through ball, but the No 7's shot was blocked by Aleksandar Dragovic after he'd rounded Schmeichel. The goal restored City's lead, and once again meant that they had something to defend, allowing them to play at their own tempo.

With City thus in complete and utter control of the game it became hard for Leicester to muster any sort of comeback, mainly due to the home side's remarkable ability to keep the ball.

Chelsea have been told how much they will be needing to fork out in order to land Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

"With that spirit and with a lot of problems - today we had three guys from the second team on the bench because we have a lot of problems".

The next penetrating pass from the boot of De Bruyne came in the form of a low through-ball behind the defence into Aguero's path.

Aguero got his second goal in just five minutes in the 53rd minute.

Champions-elect Manchester City looked strangely out of sorts during the first 45 minutes of their Premier League clash with Leicester City.
