An upset TDP pitched its senior leader and union minister Y S Chowdhary to tell the media in no uncertain terms that it was unhappy over no monetary allocation for Andhra Pradesh on many issues such as Polavaram project, funding for the new state capital of Amravati, making Visakhapatnam a zonal railways headquarters and clearance for the Kadappa steel plant project.

According to a party MP, TDP leaders were in favour of snapping ties with the BJP-led NDA, but Naidu overruled them. This alliance shouldn't break. "In politics, there is always a tomorrow". TDP MPs have been protesting in the house since yesterday but the protests are not up to the mark.

If Naidu can galvanise the support of all these forces, he can bring pressure on Modi, since the BJP will have tough time in the next elections and the BJP definitely needs the support of allies, say analysts. The TDP leader, however, denied it and said that no such communication has been made. "However, our leader exercised caution saying there will always be another day (in politics)", the MP said.

As TDP increased tempo of protest the BJP is no doubt non pluseed but confident that Chandrababu would not go to any extreme steps of walking out of NDA.

It is evidently clear that the Telugu Desam Party happens to be the BJP's biggest ally in the South. The TDP and Chandrababu are only concerned about being in power, and not about the problems of the Andhra Pradesh state. Singh assured the TDP that he would discuss their grievances with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At yesterday's meeting, Naidu said the TDP is a disciplined party and a "trusted ally".

In the high-level Parliamentary party meeting held on Sunday in Amaravati which lasted for over two hours, Naidu asked MPs to mount pressure on the Centre by disrupting the parliamentary proceedings, even if they face a possible suspension.

Not just the Sena and TDP, some of the BJP's allies in Bihar have also taken to complain that their concerns are being neglected. We are always known as a trusted ally and we should not let that image affected.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm amid protests by members of the Trinamool Congress, the Telugu Desam Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal. I don't want all this. He is learnt to have told the MPs that there should not be any compromise with regard to AP interests. The TDP has 15 MPs in Lok Sabha.
