Janet Jackson shoots down Super Bowl performance rumours

A quote from a 1998 interview with Guitar World, Prince himself had expressed his disgust at artist holograms, calling them "demonic" and when asked if he would like to be honoured via he hologram he said: "certainly not".

She thanks her fans for their support and says she looks forward to seeing them very soon.

Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl 52 halftime show remains a mystery, but there is confirmation about a couple of things it will not contain: a hologram of Prince and appearances by Janet Jackson or 'N Sync.

Now, the Purple One's former collaborator and friend Sheila E. has confirmed that the performance will not be happening.

Singer Janet Jackson has put 'rumours' to rest and said that she will not be performing during the halftime of Super Bowl LII with Justin Timberlake. "Family, I spoke w/Justin 2nite and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince & the Purple fans", wrote the musician. CBS, which aired the Super Bowl that year, drew a $550,000 fine from the Federal Communications Commission that was later overturned.

It's a way to highlight and condemn the sexism and double standards that unfolded following her 2004 performance, and it's freshly relevant because Timberlake is actually getting to perform during the halftime show again this year.

On top of all that, Prince wasn't much of a fan of Justin Timberlake's, and made pointed referenced to him in a derisive manner at an Emmy's afterparty. That whole virtual reality thing.it really is demonic.
