Battle for Azeroth descends on World of Warcraft this summer

We'll see the Battle for Azeroth descend on World of Warcraft sometime this summer, according to a press release received yesterday.

Players who pre-purchase Battle for Azeroth get access to four of the Allied Races immediately. You will discover the kingdom of Kul Tiras and the lands of the ancient empire of Zandalar, plunder uncharted islands, and be able to unlock six new race variants, including the Nightborne Elves, Highmountain Tauren, and Zandalari Trolls as part of the Horde, and the Void Elves, Lightforged Draenei and Dark Iron Dwarves if you join the Alliance.

This new expansion, where Horde and Alliance go back to their roots and resume their original conflict, reignites old grudges that will leave Azeroth immersed in a full-scale war between the two factions again.

If you're ready to hit the ground running ahead of Battle for Azeroth's release, you can preorder the expansion now from Blizzard for $49.99 for the standard edition, or $69.99 for the Digital Deluxe edition. As such, you'll Level 110 characters for the Alliance and Horde in order to fully unlock all four races. Once the race is available, players can then create their new character, and these new races will begin at level 20. And even if you're not a huge Warcraft player, the trailer for Battle for Azeroth is a work of art in itself, so be sure to give it a watch below. A Baby Tortollan pet also comes along for the ride.

Pre-orders for the game are already live, and the stampede to get them has caused trouble with Blizzard's purchasing servers across multiple games, as I discovered last night while playing Hearthstone.
