It has, however, failed to beat the record of last month's release Tiger Zinda Hai, which had collected Rs 69.4 crore in the first two days at the domestic box office. According to the collections report, Padmaavat managed to cross 20 crores on day 1 and has successfully incurred 50 crores by day 2.

However, in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, not even the single-screen theaters dared to screen the film on the opening day.

Despite "Padmaavat" not releasing in some parts of the country, the film has opened to a phenomenal response at the Box Office.

Following a nice beginning at the ticket windows regardless of the dissents and some silver screen not screening the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's showstopper Padmaavat saw a enormous ascent in its accumulations on day two.

It looks like the hard work of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and the team of Padmaavat has paid off. "Had it been a smooth release (some states are not screening the film), the all-India business would've touched Rs 40 crore", Taran Adash said.

A point to be noted here is the fact that the revenue from the paid previews of Rs. 5 cr has not been included in the opening day collections of the film.

The film's lead star, Deepika Padukone also reacted to the box office numbers with a 'boom.' "It's never happened before.I can not even begin to express how happy & proud this makes me feel!Thank You for all the love", she wrote in another tweet.

Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

In a statement given to IANS, the actor said, "It is extremely rare and overwhelming to get this kind of love from the audience".

Padmaavat is the first Bollywood movie to have a Global IMAX 3D release.
