Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced the name of their baby girl on Friday.

The baby sister of North, 4-and-a-half, and Saint, 2, was born on Tuesday, with Kardashian writing on her website, "Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, lovely baby girl".

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West attend the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals in the 2012 NBA Playoffs on May 12, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, Chicago wasn't on our list, but Star, North's favorite name was.

Kim and Kanye hired a surrogate mother to carry their third child after the beauty suffered complications whilst pregnant with four-year-old North and two-year-old Saint.

Kardashian suggested in a tweet that the baby's nickname is Chi, which is pronounced as "Shy". Chicago's brother and sister have nicknamed her "Chi".

Elsewhere on social media the name received a mixed reaction, with American football team Chicago Bears quick to make light of the title.

Instagram "North and Saint are very excited about having a new sister and are very curious and helpful" a source told E! News

Aside from Kanye's roots, Rosenkrantz says that because Chicago was born via surrogate, her parents may have wanted her name to reflect their family history that much more.

@TheJessLyf posted: "Chicago... West..."

"I'm so grateful for modern technology and that this is even possible", she wrote on Thursday. "Chi West doesn't sound bad".

Kim confirmed her baby's name on Twitter.

"They're trying to one up all the other celebs and their insane names", she said.

She has since posted more details about her decision not to go through with another high-risk pregnancy, explaining: "Preeclampsia and placenta accreta are high-risk conditions, so when I wanted to have a third baby, doctors said that it wasn't safe for my - or the baby's - health to carry on my own". "North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister".
