UCF fans ask Alabama for a home-and-home football series

The school has since declared itself the 2017 national champions - and are celebrating as such.

Florida Governor Rick Scott proclaimed UCF as national champions in Florida given that Auburn defeated both Alabama and Georgia in the regular season.

There's only one way to settle this dispute, and that's on the field. Several UCF supporters created and paid for a billboard posted in Tuscaloosa.

A group of fans is trying to convince Alabama to schedule a home-and-home with UCF, and they're doing so with a billboard in Tuscaloosa.

"With an undefeated record and a win over a top-10 team in the Peach Bowl, we were left no other choice but to name them national champs", Richard Ingram, President of Womack Publishing Company, said at the time. Auburn, coincidentally, is the only team that beat the Tide in their title-winning season.

"Congratulations Alabama!" the sign reads.

The Tide received 57 of 61 first-place votes.

The rankings rewarded UCF for being the only undefeated team in the country, and some of UCF's wins rank out better in the Colley Matrix than they do in other systems.

The original plan was to buy a billboard in Atlanta for Monday's College Football Playoff Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia.
