A tipsy restaurant visitor slapped accused rapist and movie producer Harvey Weinstein at a Paradise Valley restaurant on Tuesday, calling him a "piece of shit".

The man, named only as "Steve", told TMZ he asked for a photo and that Weinstein became "belligerent" and told him to get lost.

The man allegedly went up to Harvey and said, "you're a piece of sh*t for what you did to these women", and he then attempted to attack Harvey. Weinstein did not call police, but TMZ reports Steve appeared to be drunk and had approached Weinstein earlier for a selfie.

The restaurant manager said that, contrary to Steve's account, Weinstein was not dismissive but "very sweet about it" when he declined to take a photo with him.

Meanwhile, Weinstein and his estranged wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman, have reportedly agreed an eight-figure divorce settlement, according to United States media.

Of course, the man told his friend to get the incident on video before he confronted the disgraced celebrity.

Steve did admit to TMZ he had "quite a bit to drink" when the incident occurred.

A diner identified as "Steve" accosts Harvey Weinstein as he leaves a restaurant in Arizona.

Weinstein has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex, but has also apologized for a "whole way of behaviour that is not good" during an interview with the New York Post. Rose McGowan is one of several women to accuse Weinstein of rape.

Back in October, TMZ reported that Weinstein flew from Los Angeles to Arizona for treatment in an inpatient program.

Weinstein's representatives issued a statement to the Arizona Republic saying the TMZ report was not accurate.
