California twins born in different years, but minutes apart

Delano Regional Medical Center officials told CBS affiliate Bakersfield now, that a set of twins were born at the end of 2017 and the start of 2018.

His twin sister Aitana was born just 18 minutes later at 12:16 a.m... on January 1. Eighteen minutes later, at 12:16 a.m. Monday, his little sister Aitana entered the world. She was a little smaller at 4 pounds, 10 ounces and 16 inches long and was delivered by caesarean section, KERO reported. Doctors say the twins were their last born baby of 2017 and first born of 2018.

The babies' parents said that they were about a month early.

Maria Flores' twins were born less than 20 minutes apart.

A set of twins were delivered on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at a California hospital, giving them different birthdays.

Her son, Joaquan, was born just before midnight.

"It was definitely a surprise!"

They were due in late January and mother Maria Esperanza Flores Rios actually had a C-section scheduled for next week before she want into labor 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Although twins born in different years are rare, it happened at least three times in the US last New Year's, with twins born on separate years in San Diego, Atlanta, and Glendale, Arizona.
