Apart from his role in Star Wars, Curtis also appeared in the 1980 version of The Elephant Man and 1982's Q.E.D.

He accompanied it with a amusing artwork of a sketch showing Fisher, who passed away suddenly a year ago, in robes and a crown, carrying her famous french bulldog, Gary Fisher, in one hand as she stuck up the middle finger of the other. "You had the death sentence on twelve systems but you'll forever live on in our nightmares and our hearts", one person tweeted. On December 15, Twitter user Richard Daley, who said he lived near Alfie in Essex, in the actor's native United Kingdom, tweeted Mark to tell him that his former co-star had passed away.

Hamill recalls the cantina scene as "one of the most memorable".

Born in Stepney, London in 1930, Curtis began acting since 1973, when he made his debut on the "Bowler" television series. Curtis' character appeared in the Mos Eisley cantina sequence, where he picked a fight with Luke Skywalker, only for his friend Ponda Baba to end up losing an arm thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber.
