The Bell County Sheriff's Office says in a statement on Facebook that the attack occurred Sunday along state Route 66.

Johnny Saylor, Lorraine's husband came running out after hearing a commotion outside and that is when one of the dogs started attacking him.

A Kentucky man was arrested after his two pit bulls killed a woman and injured her husband in his neighborhood on Christmas Eve. Her husband was hospitalized.

The husband was able to shoot both dogs.

It is unclear what drove the dogs to attack their neighbors, but experts say it's unlikely that pit bulls just turn bad.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

"Under no circumstances are you to engage this risky animal", the sheriff's department said.
