Christmas celebrated with fervor and gaiety in Kerala

The prayers were held at the Holy Family Catholic Church and All Saints' Church in Srinagar, Saint Joseph's Church in Baramulla district-the oldest Catholic Church in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amid the gripping festive fervour, churches in the city held midnight mass and members of the Christian community merrily welcomed Christmas on Monday.

On the occasion, Santa Claus distributed candies and toys among dozens of toddlers waiting in a queue.

The Tourism Department had made elaborate arrangements for making the festival grand lighting up lanterns and organizing cultural programmes.

Shah said the officials of the Tourism department would also attend travel and trade fairs to woo more tourists to Kashmir.

"A member of an NGO told Rising Kashmir that they are trying to spread a global message of peace and love among all communities of the Valley".

Among the believers were tourists from different parts of the country and world who joined the locals on the auspicious day and prayed for world peace and brotherhood. May the spirit of Christmas be the harbinger of prosperity, abundance and peace in your lives.

He called upon all to work together to build a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh.

He said Christians were facing the problem of burial ground. The original bell was damaged in a fire on June 7, 1967. People from all faiths greeted Christians.
