2 dead in shooting at Penn State Beaver campus in W. Pennsylvania

A woman who worked at a Penn State satellite campus apparently was shot dead by her estranged husband in a university parking lot on Wednesday, and the man then killed himself, police said.

There was never a threat to the general campus population, Hermick said. Situation is contained. We will remain on lockdown until further notice. It asked students and faculty to avoid the Student Union building and food services area. The school is located 25 miles north west of downtown Pittsburgh.

The shooting is being investigated as a murder-suicide, investigators said.

The shooting is thought to have been a murder/suicide situation.

Pennsylvania State Police said an employee of the university was shot and killed by her estranged husband before he killed himself in a campus parking lot, a local CBS affiliate reported. CBS Pittsburgh reports that the woman was shot dead by her vehicle.

"There were multiple shots fired".

Channel 11 has learned the coroner has been called to the scene of a shooting at the Penn State-Beaver campus. The school was founded in 1965 and has around 720 students enrolled in addition to 200 staff.
