Petr Cech tears into Arsenal team-mates after disappointing Southampton draw

In an attempt to hold on to their narrow 1-0 lead, being camped in their half for the majority of the second half, the Saints began taking their time with goal kicks and throw-ins.

Having seen his team concede two early goals against Manchester United just a week ago, Cech was irritated by the slow start once again.

The Gunners put in yet another languid performance, as a Per Mertesacker mistake gifted Charlie Austin a goal in the 3rd minute.

The Frenchman believes last week's loss had affected his players mentally.

But the Gunners will feel it was two points dropped in their pursuit of a top-four spot. "That's why sometimes it's not too good to talk about a problem, because you create even a bigger one". A smart pass from Dusan Tadic sent the English forward clean through, with him producing a smart lobbed finish.

Giroud was brought on in the closing stages to provide Arsenal with more of a penalty-box presence against a Southampton side who were sinking ever deeper.

Arsene Wenger opted for a change on 72 minute as Lacazette made way for Olivier Giroud as the Gunners went for a more direct approach.

But Pellegrino's men continued to threaten on the counter-attack, with Ryan Bertrand squandering the best chance of the second half.

Wenger also revealed his ire at the perceived time-wasting tactics of the Saints.

"Not only were we called back with three against one, but when we played it quick, he (the referee) called the ball back without any reason and that was a huge advantage to Southampton".
