Mariah Kay Woods: FBI joins search for three-year-old girl

Mariah Woods is the subject of an Amber Alert after she was reported missing from her home on Dawson Cabin Road Monday.

The FBI is now working with state and local authorities in order to locate the missing girl, according to ABC affiliate WCTI.

"Our focus right now is to find her, to bring her back and then to find out what happened", Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

"We don't know what happened".

Ms Woods said her daughter was a "little angel" with a talkative personality.

Mariah Kay Woods has been missing since Sunday night when her mother put her to bed. "She's my baby. She's my everything". "Just to be able to touch her and hold her and not let her go again, I'd give anything".

Law enforcement have urged anyone to come forward with any information on Mariah, who is about 2 feet and 9 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. Authorities said they have been using all means necessary to find Mariah including ground searches assist by a helicopter and K9 units - so far, officials have covered 100 acres.

Mariah vanished from her home near Jacksonville, N.C. on Sunday.

Long told the station she is frustrated that the photos "may have gotten the hopes of the family up".

Family members said the girl has an orthopedic leg problem, so when she walks her left leg is thrown around and causes her to wobble.

Woods said she woke up Monday morning and noticed her daughter was missing from her bedroom. Dive teams have been searching Southwest Creek in Onslow County, Meador said, which is about 3 miles away from where the family lives.

Wednesday, 10 a.m. - The sheriff's office says the photos released are not of Woods.

It has been about a year since he had seen his daughter, but he remembers Mariah as being a happy little girl who was always cheerful, playing and smiling.
