Variety reports that Captain Marvel has found its male lead to star opposite Brie Larson with Jude Law taking on the role.

Captain Marvel is set for release March 6, 2019. The DNA gave her superpowers and she became first the superhero Ms. Marvel, then Binary and Warbird before finally taking over the mantle of Captain Marvel.

Sources have toldVariety that The Talented Mr. Ripley star is now in negotiations to play Doctor Walter Lawson, otherwise known as Mar-Vell, the Kree Hero who was the original Captain Marvel in the comics.

Indeed, those familiar with Marvel Comics will know all too well that Doctor Walter Lawson originally held the title of Captain Marvel, though it's unclear if that lore will be woven into the fabric of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's solo movie.

In the comics, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel was a test pilot who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device.
