3 militants, Indian commando killed in fighting in Kashmir

After receiving specific information about the presence of the militants in the Magam area of district Kupwara, a joint operation was conducted by the CRPF, J&K Police and the Indian Army.

Since the operation took place in forest area, para commandos were also pressed into action.

The operation was going on when reports last came in, the officials added. "Three Pakistani LeT terrorists killed, and arms and ammunition recovered", said IGP Kashmir told media.

While the security forces were attempting to burst terror hideouts after an information was received to them, a gun battle started where the forces were able to neutralise terrorists.

Khan said government forces were battling a few militants trapped in the area. The fire was immediately retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, three militants were eliminated.

An army man and a militant were killed and two troopers injured in a gunfight near Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of border district of Kupwara on Wednesday. In a separate encounter in the same district, an Army jawan was killed.
