Charlie Rose Accused of Sexual Harassment by Eight Women

Eight women came forward with allegations that Rose sexually harassed them between the 1990s and 2011, the Washington Post reported on Monday. "These are credible allegations of predatory sexual harassment that completely conflict with the core values of our institution and significantly degrade the achievements that were the basis for awarding him an honorary degree", Stanley said in a statement.

"It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior". I am greatly embarrassed.

"I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate", said Rose. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.

The co-hosts on Charlie Rose's "CBS This Morning" did not hold back while discussing the news anchor's alleged sexual harassment of at least eight women to date. Rose's bathroom behavior, which allegedly involved summoning underlings to him as he bathed, became so well-known by the women that they gave it a nickname: "the shower trick".

PBS also announced it was immediately suspending distribution of Charlie Rose, noting that the show is produced by Charlie Rose, Inc., an independent television production company.

Rose was a co-host on the morning show "CBS This Morning" and a correspondent for its long-running Sunday night news magazine "60 Minutes".

Both King and O'Donnell applauded the courage the women must have had to take steps to speak up about what happened to them.

"CBS This Morning" has been growing rapidly since it launched in 2012, but still struggles to match the viewership of rivals "Today" and "Good Morning America", while Rose's show on PBS has aired regularly since 1991. PBS said it hasn't yet considered what will replace the show; the service is providing member stations reruns of programs like "This Old House" and "Finding Your Roots" to fill holes in their schedule this week.

"Charlie does not get a pass here", King said. Bravo also recounted instances where Rose groped her in the back off a auto and got on top of her while they were on a private airplane.

"I explained how he inappropriately spoke to me during those times", Godfrey-Ryan said. "Let me be very clear: There is no excuse for this alleged behaviour".
