India's Manushi Chillar creates history, crowned Miss World 2017

The 20-year-old medical student from Haryana won the prestigious title 17 years after global superstar Priyanka Chopra clinched the title in 2000.

The crown on her head was placed by Miss World 2016 Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle. The last Indian to bag the title was Priyanka Chopra in 2000. Congratulations Manushi Chhillar on becoming Miss World 2017. She hails from Haryana but was born in Delhi.

In question and answer round, Manushi was asked, "Which profession deserves the biggest salary and why?". It's not always about cash but also the love and respect that we give to someone.

Chhillar was presented the crown by Stephanie Del Valle, the last year's Miss World victor from Puerto Rico at the event in Sanya City Arena in China which was televised live globally. "A mother should get the highest respect".

Mexico's Andrea Meza was the first runner-up in the contest while England's Stephanie Hill was the second runner-up.

From being a simple Delhi girl to representing India at Miss World 2017, Manushi's journey has been an inspiring one.

Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen also congratulated the 21-year-old Manushi Chhillar and tweeted, "India wins Miss World 2017!" Chhillar also won the Head to Head Challenge and the Beauty with a goal titles at the pageant.

About 180 women around the world participated to win the Miss World's crown.
