According to Warner Bros., in the new film Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has escaped custody and will be seen gathering followers to his nefarious cause. But all anyone really cares about is Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

That is because Jude Law will be taking the reins of the iconic role in this Fantastic Beasts sequel, which is set dozens and dozens of years before we pick up with the many shenanigans of Harry Potter and his friends at Hogwarts.

Englishman David Yates returns to direct the film that is slated for a November 16 release next year.

Returning cast members include Redmayne, Depp, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, and - perhaps most surprisingly - Ezra Miller, who played the haunted Credence.

Not only did Harry Potter fans get a first-look cast photo and a full plot synopsis, but J.K. Rowling's Pottermore website also published a load of details about the film, its characters, and the impending drama fans can look forward to. Along with him, Zoe Kravitz is joining the cast to play Leta Lestrange who is engaged to Newt's older brother Theseus Scamander played by Callum Turner.

With dark wizard Gellert Gridelwald (Johnny Depp) on the loose and amassing a risky following across Europe, the wizarding world is becoming increasingly divided. Following Grindelwald's reveal in the final moments of the first Fantastic Beasts movie, the sequel will explore Dumbledore's relationship with the dark wizard.

"Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world", and that could mean some very hard decisions for Newt himself.

Dumbledore's sister Ariana was traumatized at a young age and repressed her magic, making her prone to magical outbursts.

But the photo also teases the inevitable duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

The "Fantastic Beasts" movies seem to be building up to this epic wizard battle.

Warner Bros Pictures has unveiled a first-look at the 2nd film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and set the movie's title.
