'Short and fat': Trump's North Korea bluster during Asia trip

North Korea's military is beginning winter drills. They involve the carrier battle groups of the USS Ronald Reagan, Theodore Roosevelt and Nimitz, which include 11 U.S. Aegis ships that can track missiles, and seven South Korean naval vessels.

A spokesman for North Korea's foreign ministry published a lengthy and incendiary commentary, condemning Trump for a "warmonger's visit" with the goal of ending the nation's effort to create a "self-defensive" nuclear weapons program.

Along with the three carrier groups, he said the US has reactivated round-the-clock sorties with nuclear-capable B-52 strategic bombers "which existed during the Cold War times".

Lieutenant General Jan-Marc Jouas, the former Deputy Commander of U.S. forces in Korea, said the U.S. would not even be able to build-up their forces before a war took place, in a chilling letter to the Democrats, seen by Newsweek.

But Pyongyang doesn't seem interested in negotating.

"A lot of times, Donald Trump goes way over the line with his tweets, but this time - that was pretty damn amusing", said Che.

In a response to North Korea calling Trump's speech in South Korea "reckless remarks by an old lunatic", Trump tweeted from Hanoi on Sunday morning: "Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me 'old, ' when I would NEVER call him 'short and fat?'"

Mr Trump spoke on North Korea in Vietnam on Sunday, saying "it would be very, very nice" if he and Kim became friends.

It comes days after Trump left Seoul, where he offered a lengthy, detailed critique of North Korea's human rights abuses and nuclear ambitions.
