210 - The Corvette ZR1 has a top speed of 210 miles per hour, making it the fastest production Corvette ever, according to Chevy.

'The king is returning, stronger than ever, ' says the press release - and the ZR1 manages to live up to that statement thanks to an exclusive 6.2-litre supercharged V8 LT5 engine that develops a mighty 755bhp at 6,300rpm and an huge maximum torque of 715lb ft at 4,400rpm.

Chevy estimates the output of the ZR1 to be 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. The standard 2019 ZR1 will come with a seven-speed manual, keeping the purists happy in the process. Track enthusiasts will want the ZR1's optional ZTK Performance Package, which has a higher, adjustable wing that trades some top speed for about 950 pounds of downforce - some 60 percent more than the Z06's Z07 Performance Package, GM says. Even the standard wing is said to create 70 percent more downforce than the Z06's aero kit.

It will go on sale next spring, though pricing has yet to be announced.

The new 2019 ZR1 is what Chevrolet is calling its fastest, most powerful production Corvette yet.

Before we get stuck into the knitty gritty of the new 'Vette, lets lay out the core figures that make this beast so impressive. Alternatively, you can specify the High Wing, which maximizes downforce and is optimized for going around corners at track speeds.

Fast forward ten years, a restructured General Motors is thriving and Chevy's new Corvette, the C7, is its most controversial design yet.

And to look the part, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 gets a front splitter finished with carbon fiber end caps.

On the ZR1's backside sits a less-than-subtle rear wing, which helps it stick to the road when the taps are open on its engine. GM says the new ZR1 has four new radiators and 13 heat exchangers in total. The price of the vehicle was not yet announced, but it will likely be a six-figure price, even before dealers add markup.

Said "High Wing" is available via the ZR1's "Performance Package", along with an angrier front splitter, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, plus specific chassis and Magnetic Ride Control damper fettling "for greater cornering grip".

Chevrolet will also offer the ZR1 supercar in a Sebring Orange Design package, which will have a Sebring Orange exterior color with orange brake calipers, seat belts, stitching, and more. There's also a Bose premium sound system available, along with a carbon fibre-rimmed steering wheel, competition sport seats and a Performance Data Recorder for more sportive types.
