CBS reported Abdirahaman sneaking into a men's fitting room at the Mall of America, Minneapolis outlet and attempting to steal something from a customer's belongings while the man was outside the fitting room modeling clothes for his family. One man was taken into custody.

Both victims were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. I heard someone screaming 'He got me! "Some other shoppers ran toward the screaming, and someone (who I believe was the victim's brother) yelled '911!' I called the police and hid".

Police Chief Jeff Potts said, "There have been two adult males that have been taken to the hospital and have what are described as non-life-threatening injuries".
