Meek Mill Begins Prison Sentence

Naturally, such big news has the hip-hop community feeling distraught, especially given the complicated circumstances surrounding Meek's verdict; while he did violate his probation, it's hard not to feel like the judge was making an example out of him, and thus, doling out "justice" with excessive force.

Meek Mill's lawyer isn't the only one confounded by the two-to-four-year prison sentence handed down on Monday (Nov. 6) by a Pennsylvania Common Pleas Court judge over the rapper's probation violation.

On Wednesday, he added a new alias - Pa. Inmate ND8400 - and exchanged his black suit for a yellow prison uniform as he checked in at the state prison at Camp Hill near Harrisburg.

He was moved Tuesday from the city's Curran-Fromhold Correction Facility in the Northeast to the state prison at Graterford in Montgomery County.

Also, a petition has been started to have the judge on his case disbarred. "It is highly unusual for a judge to show up at community service", she says.

A spokesman for Tacopina, however, said he did not know if a Tacopina had filed a complaint against the judge with the state Judicial Conduct Board, or meant to.

In 2016, Mill was ordered to serve 90 days on house arrest for violating the terms of his parole. "More than just a celebrity or rapper, Meek Mill has been a powerful voice in the community for our youth".

The transcript of that closed proceeding also was sealed at Mill's and DeSimone's requests.

The reaction to Mill's sentence was swift and angry among hip-hop fans and creators. "She said, 'I'm serious.' He refused to do that", he said. This year, he was arrested for reckless driving in NY and assault in St. Louis. Maybe she's jealous of him.

Mill acknowledged that he went into treatment earlier this year for addiction to Percocet. "I'm asking for mercy".

The sentence came as a surprise after prosecutors recommended Mill not be imprisoned for the probation violations, noting he's been off drugs since January and has complied with most requirements of probation.
