The big announcement was that the game would be getting a season pass, featuring everything from new modes along with main and side quests. And judging by the scope of the game seen within the Direct, this may be one hell of an adventure.

The expansion pass, priced at $29.99, will grant access to the DLC packs detailed above as they are released and they can't be purchased individually.

Nintendo also announced that there would a day one content update that will allow players to get Japanese audio with English subtitles. A bunch of DLC is on the way after release, including new story content, new quests, and a new Blade.

In and out of battle, Blades will have a wide array of support abilities. Selecting different Blades will provide the player with different possible strategies during the real-time combat.

Players who purchase the expansion pass will receive new support items in December, followed by new quests in January. The same day, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will launch at a suggested retail price of $74.99. Hopefully, as a December release, it can make waves late in the year and give Switch owners a new big RPG to sink their teeth into.

The Direct discussed details of Blades, which are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers like Xenoblade Chronicles 2's main character, Rex.

Players can preorder all the DLC now by buying a $30 expansion pass. "Now that we've gone through the process of development, we're in a spot now where I'm beginning to think about what we want to do next", Kojima adds. It looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be upping the ante in that regard, with the file size to prove it.
