After initially releasing a kinda-sorta-if-the-show's-already-cancelled severing of ties with Kevin Spacey, followed by an "indefinite" suspension of production on House of Cards while they and production partner Media Rights Capital "review [ed] the current situation", Netflix has actually committed to cutting Spacey out.

Netflix executives have also pulled the plug on Spacey's upcoming movie Gore, which had been in post-production.

The news comes just days after the on-demand giant suspended production on the sixth series of House of Cards.

Here, a look back at everything we know so far about Spacey's growing scandal and the aftermath of his poorly received apology.

"I would call him a paedophile and a sexual predator", the man told the website, speaking on condition of anonymity. Spacey's response was to publicly come out as a gay man via Twitter.

House of Cards's production is now suspended to allow writers to rework the show's final season and write out Spacey's character, according to what sources have told The Hollywood Reporter. A few House of Cards spinoffs are rumored to be in the works.

Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos wrote on his Facebook page that he encountered Spacey at the bar of London's Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey was artistic director from 2004-15, and the actor tried to fondle him against his will.

"I was in a state of shock", he said.

Late Thursday evening, eight people came forward anonymously to accuse Spacey of creating a "toxic" work environment on the set of House of Cards. "He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there". The unnamed staff member alleged Spacey, who was driving, put his hands down his trousers when they were just a few minutes away from the base.

His publicist and talent agency confirmed they had dropped him, and Spacey has made no public comment other than declaring that he was "beyond horrified" by the first allegation from actor Anthony Rapp, which he claimed not to remember. Wolfe had been the one to issue the statement that Spacey was seeking "evaluation and treatment" just one day earlier.
