"I actually get why ESPN cancelled the show", Portnoy said.

"While we had approval on the content of the show, I erred in assuming we could distance ourselves from the Barstool site and its content, " said ESPN president John Skipper in a brief statement.

The program always seemed a unusual fit for ESPN. On the eve of the "Barstool Van Talk" premiere, Ponder sent a series of tweets reminding people of misogynistic things that were said about her by Barstool bloggers years ago.

When Dan "Big Cat" Katz and PFT Commentor reappear down the media road, they will wear the cancellation of their Barstool Van Talk show like a badge of honor.

John Skipper, ESPN President, made the announcement on Twitter saying that the show's cancellation was "effective immediately". She also expressed disappointment in ESPN for aligning with Barstool despite some of its content.

Most notably, Samantha Ponder, the host of Sunday Morning Countdown, took to Twitter last week with her frustrations about the Barstool/ESPN relationship.

Really, ESPN? You thought that if you put Barstool dudes on the air, they would suddenly embrace Disney's family-friendly attitude?

"But I don't take back the rift, I don't take back any of it ... because that's how we act".

Sterger, 33, says she traveled to Charlotte in order to test a show for ESPN when she was 23 years old. Barstool Sports, one of ESPN's latest bedfellows, is a sports site that is known curating admittedly raunchy content to a young, millennial audience, a demographic that the Mothership was certainly hoping to capitalize on in terms of advertising dollars. Barstool ended up digging up some unflattering tweets from Ponder's own history. Portnoy called her act a "grudge move".

ESPN said in a statement, "We have no record of this ever being brought to our attention". We attacked her; she waited for three years to drop revenge on our heads the night before, and she got accomplished what she wanted to get accomplished.

The TV personality said she took a auto service to a meeting with ESPN personnel but she found out after the meeting her ride home had been canceled.

Ultimately, Portnoy said the network's decision only illustrates why it is "falling" and Barstool Sports is "rising".
