Trump challenges Rex Tillerson to IQ test

Regardless of whether Mr Trump was trying to make a joke, his "IQ tests" challenge is the latest evidence of what White House officials have described as a breach of trust between the President and the Secretary of State.

And Trump said "I can tell you who is going to win".

According to NBC, Trump's demands for more nukes (plus more troops and military equipment) "raised questions about his familiarity with the nuclear posture and other issues, officials said".

It's tempting to explore what the point of such a build-up would be - it would serve no substantive objective - but I think we can safely guess that the president wasn't thinking along these lines.

President Donald Trump says he's got a good relationship with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson but they don't necessarily see eye-to-eye on North Korea.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump has repeatedly undercut Mr Tillerson's statements on some of America's most sensitive national security challenges, including Iran and North Korea, calling it a waste of time.

According to the newspaper, quoting sources close to the secretary of state, Mr Trump has been irritated by Mr Tillerson's body language during meetings.

Among those helping to soothe tensions between the two men are White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Defence Secretary James Mattis, who both have privately stressed the imperative of stability atop the State Department at a critical moment for the nation.

Mr Tillerson also has publicly complained about the White House blocking him from making key appointments.

"No, I didn't undercut anybody".

Last week Mr Tillerson called a news conference to dismiss reports that he was considering quitting.

Like Washington's own version of "Serial", one of D.C.'s great mysteries - besides the exact shade of the president's citrus-colored makeup - has been solved: The reason why Rex Tillerson called Donald Trump a "fucking moron" following a July 20 Pentagon meeting is because the president is a fucking moron. "I don't believe in undercutting people", he said.

Trump tells reporters in the Oval Office that he and Tillerson "actually have a very good relationship". During the campaign he said he doesn't have to consult generals because he has "a very good brain" and told a rally in SC that he was highly educated and has "the best words". Sometimes I'd like him to be a little bit tougher.
