Liverpool could sell Coutinho in January

A number of bids were rejected from the Catalan giants over the summer as the Reds held firm despite a £114 million final offer.

Barcelona's director general Oscar Grau has said to the Spanish media on Wednesday (quoted by Estadio Deportivo): "We are ready to sign Coutinho in January".

"We are ready to sign Coutinho or any other player the technical staff request in the winter window", Grau said. What we want is to have the most competitive squad possible.

Jurgen Klopp does not want to sell the 25-year-old - and he has the full backing of the club's principal owner John W Henry.

The Brazil global also made an impressive start to this season for Liverpool, contributing to a combined four goals in his first six appearances.

Barcelona are on course to become the world's highest earning sports club, with record revenues of £804m (€897m) forecast for the financial year 2017/18.

'We must forget about the price paid for Neymar last summer.
