The 31-year-old world number one was barely threatened by his Australian opponent in Beijing as the 22-year-old struggled to regain his composure after losing his cool when a line call was wrongly judged against him in the opening game of the match.

Victory in Beijing gives Nadal his 75th career crown, moving to within two titles of John McEnroe for fourth on the Open Era list.

The world No 19 was aiming for his first title of the year but fell to a convincing 6-2 6-1 defeat in Beijing.

"In the semifinal I played well, obviously beating Alex (Zverev)", Kyrgios said.

The victory sees Nadal, who saved all four break points he faced, secure at least six titles in a year for the first time since 2013 and puts him ahead of Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev, who are both likely to provide tough opposition at the season-ending World Tour Finals, live on Sky Sports, next month.

Nadal broke again for 4-0 lead and from there the result was never in doubt, with Kyrgios at least avoiding a second-set bagel.

"I am very pleased the way that I have been playing the whole week, after a very tough first day".

Really, we're going to talk about it?' Asked if he was going to play the Shanghai Masters next, Kyrgios replied: 'Yeah, I'm leaving at I think 8:00 tomorrow.

The 26-year-old Halep had the superior mobility - Garcia had her right thigh strapped - but the French player was making the better shots.

Halep's best opportunity to rebound against Garcia ended when she failed to make good on any of the nine break points she had at 3-3 in the second set.

"This is a title that last time that I had the trophy with me was in 2005".

Relishing Sunday's clash with Nadal, the Spanish 16-time Grand Slam champion, Kyrgios added: "He's one of the greatest players of all time and we've played a couple of times - he's beaten me and I've beaten him (this year)".
