Governor Christie Sends Complement of State Police Personnel to Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico bond insurer Assured Guaranty Ltd said late on Friday it voluntarily withdrew a complaint that challenged the legality of the island's fiscal turnaround plan, citing the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria.

"We know from decades of experience that children are the most affected in emergencies and disasters, and their needs often go awry", Casey Harrity, the team leader at Save the Children in Puerto Rico, said in a statement. She believes she can to do her part by volunteering her time in events such as the Global Café.

The crisis feels especially close to Guzman because her family lives in Puerto Rico.

While many Puerto Ricans are bilingual, college officials say classes are available to help Spanish-speaking students learn English.

Assured Guaranty, along with a second insurer MBIA Inc, filed their lawsuit against the island's government and a federally appointed financial oversight board on May 3, a day after Puerto Rico announced a historic restructuring of its public debt.

Last week, Governor Christie authorized the mobilization of 1,100 emergency responders and soldiers to deploy to Puerto Rico, including NJSP and 500 National Guard citizen soldiers with various equipment.

The goal is to ship the goods down to Puerto Rico in the next few weeks.

Cruz said, "This is what being a police officer is all about, and this is why we're going down there".

The Central Florida community is coming together to get results, collecting much needed aid and sending hope to the people of Puerto Rico.

For families, like Santos, this is the least they can do to help their homes.
