Puerto Rico makes emotional plea for help

"I didn't see it as assigned to the people of Puerto Rico, I saw it as a personal difference with the mayor of San Juan".

President Trump took to Twitter yesterday to blast San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has criticized the federal government's disaster response effort. More Republicans in Congress need to speak out, as Joe Scarborough did on Saturday, and sound the alarms. "Wait, you do know we're a USA territory don't you?"

Cruz, in emotional appeals on TV on Friday, has become the face of Puerto Rican officials distraught over what some of them charge is insufficient response by the USA government to the crisis. He said 11 regional staging areas have been receiving food and water across the island and that telecommunication has been restored in several key municipalities, including San Juan.

More than half of Puerto Rico's 3.4 million people lack access to drinking water 11 days after Hurricane Maria hit the U.S. territory, and 95 percent remain without power, according to the U.S. Defense Department.
