Location scout for Netflix's 'Narcos' shot dead in Mexico

Munoz reportedly was scouting solo and he was working in an area prone to murders. Authorities are reportedly having trouble piecing together what happened leading up the Portal's death, and police are still investigating. Muñoz's death has also led to reports that have Netflix concerned for everyone on Narcos' well-being. Muñoz has various high-profile credits to his name, including scouting for films like Sicario, Bond film Spectre, Fast & Furious, Resident Evil: Extinction, and Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.

Season four of "Narcos" is said to based on the rise of Mexico's infamous Juarez cartel.

Carlos Muñoz Portal, who was 37 years old, was found dead in his auto. They are supposedly considering a move to Columbia for the next season of filming, which is where the show had started out before moving to Mexico.

Netflix confirmed his passing to the Daily News.

It had been widely rumored that Narcos Season 4 will be set in Mexico, instead of the Colombian milieu that was featured in seasons 1 through 3, but this had not yet been confirmed by Netflix or the showrunners. Police are now investigating the circumstances of Portal's death.

Portal had worked on multiple productions for more than ten years.
