With her wholesome good looks, upbeat attitude and throaty laugh, Lawrence is now America's sweetheart.

The first teaser trailer for 20th Century Fox's Red Sparrow has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence's next action venture.

Based on Jason Matthews's novel of the same name, the story finds Lawrence's character Dominika Egorova meeting a Central Intelligence Agency agent played by Joel Edgerton and deciding whether or not to become a double agent and leave the Russian Sparrow program. Umm, does that sound a bit familiar, Black Widow fans?

Lawrence's character goes through the school's "perverse and sadistic" training process, the film's description reads, and becomes "the most unsafe Sparrow the program has ever produced".

Interestingly, she starts off as prima ballerina Dominika Egorova who has to stop dancing due to an injury. He is not related to his leading lady but shares a close connection after directing her in the final three Hunger Games movies. Dominika will then encounter a C.I.A. agent, who tries to convince her he's the only one she can trust as the lives of everyone she cares about fall at risk.

"Red Sparrow", which had originally been scheduled for theatrical release on November 10, will open on March 2. The film, also starring Charlotte Rampling, Matthias Schoenaerts, Jeremy Irons and Mary-Louise Parker, is set to release on the big screens in March 2018.
