James Franco Is Dynamite in the Hilarious Full-Length Disaster Artist Trailer

The Disaster Artist will be given worldwide release on December 8.

By all accounts out of TIFF, this most James Franco of joints defied all odds, obliterated cynicism, and over-emoted its way into the crowd's heart.

Franco will portray Tommy Wiseau, who's the writer, director, and star of The Room.

The film received rave reviews at SXSW and the Toronto Film Festival, while it has also inexplicably becoming part of the Oscar conversation.

While there have been many movies in the last century that have been held up as the world film ever made. We shot at locations that I had hung out at when I was a struggling actor coming up in L.A., and just their story of trying to make it, I can relate to.

Rogen and the Franco brothers have collaborated on numerous projects throughout the years. Franco's Tommy repeatedly insists that "Acting is truth", and in the post-screening Q&A, the real Sestero described the movie as "terrifyingly true". Not only does The Disaster Artist now sit at a strong 93% approval rating in Rotten Tomatoes, but it also received a standing ovation when it was shown at the South by Southwest film festival, with some saying that the movie marks a career-best for Franco. A movie about the making of the movie, it's a behind-the-scenes look at "so-bad-it's-good" cult classic The Room.
