Mbappe, though, signed a season-long loan deal with PSG ahead of a possible £165million permanent move next summer but admits a move to north London was a "real option".

"All we care about is the pitch", said Mbappe, who could make his PSG debut in Friday's Ligue 1 game at Metz.

While Barca could pay almost €150m for Dembele in total, that fee is set to be eclipsed by the €180m PSG are set to pay Monaco for Mbappe next summer. "We compared the advantage and disadvantages of the other clubs but I was given the chance to make a decision by my family and I had to do it".

The 18-year-old says he encouraged Dembele to join the Spanish giants and "become a great player alongside Messi and Suarez" following the sale of Neymar.

Mbappe also saw his new attacking partners score en route to a comfortable road victory over the bottom-ranked side without a single point.

Mbappe is set to link up with €222m-rated team-mate Neymar and Edinson Cavani in a three-man forward line, though he is likely to take up his place on the wing with the latter occupying the central role.

Mbappe admits his experience with Chelsea as a youngster helped inspire him to become a great player.
