Arizona Cardinals: 3 players to watch against Lions

Detroit Lions' wide receiver Marvin Jones will host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

Less than two weeks after signing the largest contract in National Football League history, Stafford's regular season got off to the ugliest start possible on Sunday when he threw a pick-six to Arizona's Justin Bethel.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing his best football since past year and a half, and it could get a stronger with the addition of running back Ameer Abdullah, who missed later half of the last season with a foot injury.

Stafford completed 29 of 41 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns. The Lions are a mess on defense and the Cards have swung this line a full four points which seems to indicate something is awry and that Arizona should have no issues. Back-up Dwayne Washington was slightly more successful, gaining 22 rushing yards on just six attempts.

Defensively, the Motor City did a great job of containing Arizona's touted offense. With Johnson struggling to find room, the team turned to Carson Palmer, but the veteran quarterback has two interceptions and no touchdowns. Killebrew scored a defensive touchdown on his interception. However, the Leos are a bit undermanned on defense and will need someone to step up if they're going to keep this Arizona offense at bay, and in the end I'm not sure they will be able to do enough to keep David Johnson off the scoreboard.

It was also a solid debut for Detroit's 2017 first round selection Jarrad Davis.

The teams briefly traded punts, but as the Lions lined up to boot it out of their own end zone, punter Kasey Redfern dropped the snap and was forced to scramble.
