Yesterday, PTCL users were facing slow internet browsing due to fault in Submarine cable.

The Internet services were restored across the country on Sunday after the disruption caused by the fault in the undersea internet cable, a Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) spokesman said.

According to Mr Janjua, Pakistan suffered more as two other submarine cables - SEA-ME-WE 4 and Transworld - are still being fixed after they were damaged in July. This affected the flight services and other activities in the country.

The internet outage at Benazir Bhutto International airport disrupted the flight schedule, resulting in cancellation of at least eight domestic and international flights.

He also mentioned that PTCL has already invested in 4 global cable systems (SMW-3, SMW-4, IMEWE and AAE-1).

PTCL has undertaken measures to arrange additional/alternate bandwidth through other cable systems & worldwide cable business partners.

He explained that after the fault in the submarine cable in Jeddah, PIA managed to transfer their system to Transworld and PIE - which are used as back-ups in such situations - and as a effect there were some delays.

Apart from hitting other activities, the interruption forced authorities to cancel two domestic and six global flights at capital's only airport.

Dubai-Islamabad flight PA211, Karachi-Islamabad flight PK368, Jeddah-Islamabad flight 742 and Madina-Islamabad flight NL706 were also cancelled.
