If the service is indeed coming to the Xbox One, after all the Windows 10 app was recently converted to a Universal Windows Program, it will give users yet another option for streaming music on the console alongside Microsoft's Xbox Music, and Pandora.

Sources and evidence corroborate that internal testing for an Xbox Spotify app is now underway- implying that the app may be close to completion, and therefore, release.

A Spotify for Xbox One app was first spotted earlier this week by reddit users, after it popped up in the activity feed of Xbox community manager Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. Sources claim that the app is now being tested internally, and will be released soon. Spotify on Xbox One should provide the same kind of high quality experience subscribers of the service are accustomed to.

For those unfamiliar with Spotify, at least on consoles, the application is a popular and premium music streaming app.

That meant that the Windows Store app was only available on Windows 10 PCs, and could not be installed on other Windows 10 devices, such as phones, HoloLens, or the Xbox One.

Sony announced its exlusive deal with Spotify back in 2015 for both PS3 and PS4.

Citing unnamed "sources familiar with Spotify and Microsoft's plans", The Verge reports that a Spotify app is indeed coming to the Xbox One, and is now being tested internally. The app had an exclusivity right with Sony and their PlayStation Music service, which Spotify aimed to replace.
