Teen Jumps Out Of Plane's Emergency Exit Onto SFO Tarmac

Passengers say the 17-year-old USA citizen, who was traveling alone, had appeared "anxious" and "fidgety" throughout the Copa Airlines flight from Panama City, per KGO and the San Jose Mercury News.

"I heard the plane land and the door open nearly at the same time and then I saw someone.it was as if he was flying out", said passenger Sarah Gibson.

A passenger has opened an aeroplane door and jumped out prior to the plane arriving at the terminal in San Francisco.

A 17-year-old boy jumped off from an airplane on Tuesday by opening its emergency door.

"It was as if he was like flying out, like it was really fast", passenger Sophia Gibson of San Jose, California told broadcaster KNTV.

People sitting near the exit row stood up when the boy jumped out and started to shout, others said.

"They were yelling, 'Tell the flight attendants". Relay the message back. "The door's open. Someone jumped off, '" Crowder said. 'It was pretty insane'.

SFO spokesperson Doug Yakel confirmed that no runways were affected and there was no operational impact from the incident.

He has been detained for questioning by police and will be transported to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

Johnny Escobar saw the airline as it taxied on the tarmac.

Witnesses said the teen seemed fidgety and anxious throughout the seven-hour flight. He was already on the ground and running by the time passengers realized the door had been opened.
