Indian Railways to reward Rs 1.30 cr to Mithali & Co

The felicitation ceremony was held over India's overwhelming performance in the Women's Cricket World Cup 2017.

On Thursday, Sports Minister Vijay Goel felicitated the 15 heroines for their journey to the finals, saying their feats will spark a revolution in women's cricket in the country. Prabhu said that the Railways would continue to support the women's team and ensure that the working conditions are such that they don't come in the way of their practise, training or matches.

The Women in Blue performed extremely well throughout the tournament before ending up as runner-up, going down by nine runs to England in a nail-biting final at Lord's on July 23. No one knows what happens in the next four years as the next 50-over World Cup is in 2021.

However, the journey of the Indian women in the quadrennial event was remarkable. "We couldn't reach Super Six (stage) at home in 2013 (World Cup) so we wanted to do well this time".
