Barbara Sinatra, legendary singer Frank Sinatra's fourth wife, died on 25 July 2017 aged 90.

In her 2011 memoir called "Lady Blue Eyes: My Life with Frank", Mrs Sinatra detailed how she first met the My Way singer when he was with his second wife Ava Gardner.

Barbara, a former Las Vegas showgirl, was married to Frank just shy of 22 years before he passed away in May 1998.

John Thoresen, director of the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center in Rancho Mirage, California, said in a statement that Sinatra died of natural causes, surrounded by her family and friends at her home in the desert city.

During her life, she raised funds and rallied support for a number of charities - most notably, the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center at Eisenhower Medical Center.

The ex-model was known for being by the crooner's side on tour, at the dais when he received each award during his career and quite frankly, until the end. Theirs was the longest lasting of the singer's marriages.

She is survived by her son from a previous Robert Oliver Marx, his wife Hillary Roberts and her granddaughter Carina Blakeley Marx.

She remained active at the center until recently, pushing for creation of the video program just past year and making sure the children had anything they needed, Thoresen said.

The center has reportedly assisted victims of the largest child abuse cases in the desert, according to the Desert Sun. "You worry about new ones, '", Barbara previously said.

The non-profit organisation worked to provide therapy for groups and individuals who had been victims of physical, emotional or sexual abuse.
