A new teaser for Pacific Rim: Uprising has arrived, and with it comes a quick look at numerous movie's new Jaegers, along with the reveal of John Boyega's character.

We got a surprise reveal of Legendary and Universal's upcoming sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising, courtesy of a new social media/mobile-driven recruitment campaign.

I have to admit, despite the lack of Guillermo Del Toro, Travis Beacham and Charlie Hunnam (any dissent against the Hunnster in the comments will result in an INSTANT BANNING), I'm pretty excited for this for a couple of reasons. Pacific Rim was ushered into existence by a true auteur filmmaker, and created by Travis Beacham, a screenwriter who laid the groundwork for multiple sequels. However, del Toro stepped down as director, handing the reigns over to Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil). Luckily, that's not the case, and our first look at Pacific Rim: Uprising has arrived.

Boyega has the lead role of Jake Pentecost, said to be the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Petecost from "Pacific Rim". Part of the GoJaeger.com viral site, it's an in-universe advertisement for the benefits of the Jaegers.

The first teaser trailer, released Thursday, appears to confirm speculation that the sequel will take place some years after events of the 2013 original. That would prove to be an interesting update on the world established in Pacific Rim - especially if the soldiers are then forced to pair up and use an older Jaeger that needs two pilots.
